Business Times journalist Hamisah Hamid (second from right) received special recognition from the Malaysian Franchise Association (MFA) last night when she was conferred an award by association patron Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for her contribution to the development of the industry. The presentation was held in conjunction with the Malaysian Franchise Awards 2010.
Meanwhile, Smart Reader Worldwide Sdn Bhd was named Franchise of the Year. Winners included Secret Recipe Cakes and Cafe Sdn Bhd for the Homegrown Franchisor of the Year, while its chief executive officer Datuk Steven Lim Leong Thun won the franchise Entrepreneur Award.
The New Straits Times won the special media appreciation award.
