Perbadanan Nasional Bhd (PNS) expects to allocate RM130 million this year for investment in three main sectors — franchise, property and investment.
Its MD Datuk Syed Kamarulzaman Syed Khodki Shahabudin said the bulk of the allocation would focus on the franchise and property segments.
“For 2017, we will continue our focus on the franchise and entrepreneurship development to create more business opportunities for locals,” he said in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
Syed Kamarulzaman said presently, the equity, property, franchise and training segments contributed about 53%, 30%, 15% and 2% respectively, to PNS’ revenue.
He added PNS is expected to announce its 2016 financial year performance next month.
“We target 2016’s performance would be better than the year before,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said PNS would also organise a business tour in the Asean region for local entrepreneurs this year.
“We will help to further enhance our local products development and market expansion abroad,” he said.
PNS, which is under the Finance Ministry, also wants to develop the franchise industry, especially in food and beverages as well as in quality services and products.
“Our main focus is to create and sustain wealth through diversified businesses, and provide opportunities to entrepreneurs,” he said.
PNS would also allocate RM28 million for the franchise and pre-franchise financings.
“We want to improve the quality of small and medium entrepreneurs in their progression to be a franchisor and increase the registered local franchisors,” he said, adding that an allocation of RM1.5 million would be provided this year to assist mobile-preneurs through the food trucks scheme.
The agency had also trained over 2,500 graduates and entrepreneurs via its PNS Academy. It also has provided financing worth RM409 million to 2,113 companies.
PNS would also allocate RM30 million for the Bumiputera Property Ownership scheme.
“In 2016, we have invested RM29 million in new commercial properties in order to provide Bumiputera entrepreneurs with business areas,” he said.
To date, PNS has invested RM416.18 million in properties comprising land, offices and shoplots. It owns about 400,000 sq ft of commercial space area and 1,400 acres (566.56ha) of land.
